Had an excellent day at Wrest Park, visiting the 'Wrest at War' themed event. It was very informative and a big shout out to all the costumed characters that not only looked authentic but had a great knowledge of the era and told many interesting facts and stories. There were also many WW II Military Vehicles on display including the hardy Willys Jeep, front line kitchen, first aid and field hospital vehicles, plus others offering transport and supply support. Soldiers, officers and their equipment, including machine guns and camping, rations and recreation were also shown.
We were further treated to a display by Punjab Lancers, who had a job, in addition to other duties, of tent pegging from horseback. This accurate skill handed down through generations, was demonstrated in the arena.
